Hello! My name is Christine Stinchi. I’m a professional horn player and teach private lessons for Interlochen Online, where I serve as a horn teaching assistant at their summer camp. The teachers I had early on at Interlochen Arts Academy and Mannes Precollege program (including New York Philharmonic’s Allen Spanjer) set the bar high for me and inspired me to play from my heart. That’s the joy and gold standard from which I teach. I’m eager to see how we can tailor lessons to fit your needs at this time and what will spark your love of the horn too.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in horn performance and music education from the University of Michigan School of Music, where I studied with Adam Unsworth. I earned a Master’s of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Maryland. I’m working on my doctorate in horn performance at Rutgers University, where I study with New York Philharmonic’s Richard Deane and Leelanee Sterrett. My article, “The Hunting Horn Topic as a Bridge Between Two Horn Sonatas” is featured in the February 2023 publication of The Horn Call. I’ve performed in a variety of venues, from Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Orchestra Hall to Michigan Stadium’s “The Big House” alongside the New York Philharmonic. I’m part of a female horn quartet that performed at the International Horn Symposium in Gent, Belgium, in 2019. We’re launching a series of virtual performances that will feature both classical and contemporary music covers, from Mozart and Ella Fitzgerald to The Weeknd and Taylor Swift. |
